Summary: My primary focus at Vudu was to collaborate with our marketing team on their various initiatives. The key was to bring forth data driven design solutions while pushing the executional boundaries. (e.g. videos, HTML5 ads, landing page strategies, creative optimizations, etc.)
Leading a team of motion graphics designers and guiding various visual designers, we were able to elevate the overall deliverables.

Summary: Donald started his tenure at Apple with the iAd creative development team. His mission was to establish a 10-12 person design team that spanned across Cupertino, New York City, and London. The core responsibilities for this team included ad production, internal product development, and sales/biz dev efforts.
Since iAd, Donald has lead various efforts with the Ad Platforms organization at Apple. His focus areas have included product marketing duties for Ads on Apple News and most recently leading the marketing creative team.

Client: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage
Project: Sales Consultation and Application Capture Interface Design
Summary: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage (WFHM) wanted to improve the UX/UI of their Sales Consultation tool. A key measurement of success was to factor in the needs from their various users in order to accelerate the overall adoption rates.
Donald lead a cross organizational (WFHM & Deloitte) team through weeks of grueling workshops that involved, and reflected, the primary users of this tool from across all territories in the U.S. Through these workshops, Donald helped WFHM redefine and get better clarity on their end users and their day-to-day needs. This resulted in remapping the WFHM personas and their various workflows. Base on these exercises, Donald generate a new set of wireframes for the WFHM development team to move in to production.

Project: T-Mobile B2B Portal Redesign
Summary: T-Mobile approached Deloitte Digital for an update to their partner B2B shopping experience. Donald guided the Deloitte Digital creative team to design a visual experience that leveraged the strength of the T-Mobile brand. In addition, Donald and team also devised a design system for the partners to co-brand the shopping experience for their users.

Summary: VMware’s IT customers and licensing team needed to evolve the experience for license and support contract management. Donald strategically lead a cross organizational team consisting of members of Deloitte Digital, VMware, and a competing design firm to design a personalized user experience call My VMware. The foundation to My VMware focused on enhancing the overall customer, partner, and employee experience through engaging and intuitive interactions.

Project: Booking Engine
Summary: Hawaiian Airlines was in the midst of revamping their fare offerings. The concept of bundled/unbundled air fare packages was about to be introduced to their customers for the first time. With this new fare structure in mind, Hawaiian Airlines needed to evolve their online booking experience.
SapientNitro was tasked with the complex challenge of introducing and educating the American consumers to this new type of air fare pricing.
Donald worked very closely with his creative director to help guide the researchers, information architects, art directors, designers, copywriters, and developers to bring this vision to life. The result was a truly unique purchasing experience. It not only introduced the consumers to a new fare structure but also help them experience the authentic beauty of the islands.

Summary: Hawaiian Airlines reached out to SapientNitro to help them optimize and improved their email marketing program.
Donald lead his team of art directors, designers, copywriters, and developers to tackle this challenge. He worked very closely with his account director and program managers to refresh this robust communication program. The end result realigned the communication efforts with the voice and tone of the great Hawaiian Airlines brand.

Summary: What started as a simple “home page refresh” turned in to an amazing reevaluation of what an “online” experience can really be like for both Celebrity Cruises and SapientNitro. The goal was to literally bring the richness of the cruising experience to the consumer through digital story telling. Story telling, not just by narration or guidance but also allowing the users to explore and build their own journeys.
Under the guidance of his creative director, Donald, along with a senior interaction architect, shepherded a group of art directors, designers, copywriters, and developers to help bring this vision to life.

Summary: During Donald’s tenure at Wired Magazine, one of the sections that he was responsible for was “infoporn”. Every month he collaborated with various editors to devise new visual narratives to make heavy data driven concepts digestible. He achieve this by providing art directions to various illustrators, designers, and photo editors.

Summary: During Donald’s tenure at Wired Magazine, he was responsible for the “Start” section of the magazine. The “Start” section was the front of the book section that was made up of various short articles and stories. He provided art directions to various illustrators, designers, and photo editors to achieve the magazine’s tight monthly deadline.

Project: DininigOut Magazine
Summary: DiningOut started as a low-end publication out of Boulder, Colorado. The publisher approached Donald to help them revamp the magazine’s overall look/feel and brand. Along with rebranding the magazine to make it more appealing to a larger metropolitan audience, Donald also create a design system for the magazine. This system enabled DiningOut to easily scale its publication in to various regions across the country.
